10. Pay off all your debt

Pay off your house, your cars, student loans, and anything else outstanding to live a debt-free life. This step is also optional if you rather use the money to invest.

• There's not much to this, so I apologize in advance for the oversimplification.

• The truth is, if you are this far into the guidelines, then you should feel very proud of yourself.

• You accomplished all of your goals and have money laying around? Make your finances foolproof - pay off all your debt and you're beholden to no one.

• Might not be my first suggestion, but it sure as hell is a good step to take to never owe anyone anything ever again.
